Role Summary: Provides patient treatment by performing duties under the supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist within the various modalities of Respiratory Therapy. Assists staff by caring for patients, performing limited clerical duties, and duties outlined by the NC Respiratory Care Board. Supports quality of care by demonstrating proper orientation, competencies, knowledge and skills in each category
Required Education: Enrolled in recognized Respiratory Care Programs that have been approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care
Applicant must be currently enrolled in a COARC accredited Respiratory program. The student must be within the second year of the program and in good standing.
Required License: Current BLS
Preferred License: ACLS, PALS, NRP (Pediatric-Perinatal Specialty)
OSHA Category: Potential for exposure to blood or body fluids.
Patient Care Group: Patients of all ages include the neonate, child, adolescent, geriatric, and the dying patient. Orientation continuing education, knowledge and skills are developed as appropriate for these categories.
