Position Summary & Responsibilities: 

The RN Maternal Program Coordinator coordinates the clinical management of the maternal patient population and their families across the entire continuum of care.  Serves as a leader for the maternal quality assurance performance improvement program.  Acts as a clinical resource/ role model for all areas caring for maternal patients.  Provides and/or coordinates educational activities for both staff and patients. Acts as a community liaison on behalf of the program and hospital.  Directly involved in the marketing/promotion of services provided.  Incorporated within each of these role functions, the maternal program coordinator is a role model, patient advocate, change agent, leader, and cost-effective practitioner.

Minimum Position Requirements:

  1. License  and Certifications:
    1. TX RN License or RN Compact State License
    2. Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate of completion within recommended renewal period thru American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    3. Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate of completion within recommended renewal period thru American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    4. Neonatal Rescusitation Provider (NRP) certificate of completion within recommended renewal period (American Academy of Pediatricians).
    5. AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certificate
    6. AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certificate within 1 year of hire
    7. Specialty Certification RNC-OB within 1 year of hire
    8. Specialty Certification C-EFM within 1 year of hire
    9. AWHONN Fetal Monitor Instructor within 2 years of hire
    10. Specialty Certification C-ONQS preferred
  1. Education
    1. BSN required
    2. MSN preferred

                    e.    Membership in professional organization (AWHONN) preferred.
