Mission Hospital, located in Asheville, North Carolina, serves as the regional tertiary and quaternary care facility for western North Carolina. Job Summary and Qualifications

Directs area operations, programs, and activities consistent with Senior Leadership’s objectives. Specific job duties will vary based on area served. This position will lead our air and ground transport teams including Mountain Area Medical Airlift (MAMA) and Regional Transport Services (RTS), serving western North Carolina and surrounding states.  Supports Mission/HCA by:

  • Directs area operations, programs, and activities consistent with Senior Leadership's objectives, reporting into the VP of Operations for Mission Hospital.
  • Leads a team of 100+ employees including the Mountain Area Medical Airlift (MAMA), Regional Transport Services (RTS) and Behavioral Health Transport (BHT) Teams.
  • Oversight of program growth and development for each area.
  • Leading the team in strategic planning and change management.
  • Community Outreach to area EMS agencies and hospitals.
  • Employee rounding, mentoring and developing team members allowing for robust succession planning.
  • Collaborating with nursing, care management, and operations leadership to positively impact patient outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with aviation vendor, billing vendor, etc.


What qualifications you will need:

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field

Preferred Education: Master's Degree

Required License: BCLS may be required for those leaders providing patient care

Required Experience: Three years of technical and managerial experience in area. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, Internet and Intranet software, e-mail.

Preferred Experience: Database software
