Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), you will assess, plan, perform, direct, and document the delivery of age specific patient care utilizing the Cardiopulmonary Care process set by community and accreditation standards with Medical Director’s approval.

  • You will recognize symptoms of cardiac arrest, respiratory distress and/or other impending crisis and initiate the necessary emergency response
  • You will identify, label, and dispense medications and solutions safely and document patient response to pertinent medications
  • You will demonstrate knowledge of all medications/solutions usage
  • You will administer prescribed pharmaceuticals
  • You will provide optimum patient care during exams
  • You will immobilize patients as required for appropriate examinations
  • You will maintain and increase standards of performance and education

Experience

  • Minimum two years of clinical cardiopulmonary experience

Education

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited program in Respiratory Care

Licenses and Certifications

  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) through the State of Texas
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St David’s HealthCare policy
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification – preferred
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification – preferred

This comprehensive medical center features the only hybrid operating room in the county, a 24-hour emergency department with a Level II trauma center, and leading-edge cardiac care through the Heart Hospital of Austin at St. David’s Round Rock. Patients may also receive care related to rehabilitation services, women’s services, cancer care, neurology, joint replacement and orthotics, and more when visiting this facility.
